Stephanie Poole

Candidate for Chief
Lutsel K'e Dene First Nation

I am honoured and humbled to be nominated by Elders of our Nation ❤️ Their trust and recognition of my leadership is something I carry with gratitude.I believe leadership is a responsibility to serve all Members of our Nation in a good way, and I am committed to doing my very best for each and every one of you.

About Stephanie

I have lived in Lutsel K’e for nearly 33 years, raising my children and grandchild with my spouse Adrian Nataway, while working, volunteering, and serving our community and Nation.I have previously served 2 terms on Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation Council and have represented our Nation in many different roles over the years. I worked for the Akaitcho Chiefs in the NWT Treaty 8 Tribal Corporation's Akaitcho Interim Measures Agreement (IMA) office for 16+ years. Since March 2024, I have served as the Wellness Coordinator for the Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation, supporting community wellness, healing initiatives, partnerships, and programs that strengthen our people and future generations.I was adopted as a baby in what is known as the "60's Scoop" and it took 22 years before finding my way home. That experience profoundly shaped my healing journey and strengthened my love and commitment to our Dene culture, language, lands, and way of life.I believe leadership is a responsibility grounded in service, communication, transparency, accountability, and working together in a good way to build a strong future for our people and future generations.

Vision & Priorities

My vision is for a strong, healthy, and self-determined Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation where leadership is accountable, transparent, and grounded in the voices of the Nation. I believe in building on our strengths by supporting healing and wellness for individuals and families, while creating more opportunities for our youth and future generations. Our land, culture, and language must remain at the centre of everything we do, guided by the knowledge of our Elders and the teachings of our ancestors. I am committed to strengthening supports for families and Elders, and to advancing economic and community development that reflects our values and priorities. We will begin by involving all members of the Nation—wherever they are—in a shared strategic planning process, in safe, supportive, and respectful spaces, to set the priorities for our elected leaders for the coming term. This will also include a respectful transition from the previous Council and a clear process for addressing and completing outstanding priorities as part of moving forward together.Together, we can continue moving toward greater self-determination, unity, and a future grounded in respect, responsibility, and our commitment to our land, our culture, and next generations.
